Calderdale Current Launches as Headline Sponsor of the Community Spirit Awards 2026
We are proud to announce our official launch as headline sponsor of the Community Spirit Awards 2026, hosted by the Community Foundation for Calderdale.
On Thursday 22nd May, the sold-out awards ceremony will bring together Calderdale's charity and community heroes for an evening of celebration and recognition. This is the moment we have chosen to formally introduce Calderdale Current to the community we are here to serve.
Why This Event Matters
The Community Spirit Awards celebrate the people and organisations that make Calderdale a better place to live and work. From grassroots charities to dedicated volunteers, these awards shine a light on the extraordinary contributions happening across our borough every day.
As an ethical energy brokerage with a mission to help Calderdale become the UK's most energy efficient business community, there is no better stage for our launch. Our programme is built on the same values that the Community Spirit Awards represent: local pride, collective action, and reinvestment into the places that matter.
What is Calderdale Current?
Calderdale Current is an ethical energy programme delivered by Hawley Energy. We help organisations in Calderdale cut energy costs with 100% renewable electricity, reduce their carbon footprint, and contribute to a community grant fund.
For every kWh of electricity our customers use, 0.5p (inclusive of VAT) is paid into a grant fund managed independently by the Community Foundation for Calderdale. After six months as a customer, organisations can apply for grants to fund energy efficiency improvements.
Looking Ahead
The Community Spirit Awards is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we will be reaching out to businesses, charities, and public sector organisations across Calderdale to share how they can benefit from the programme while contributing to a stronger, more resilient local economy.
